“And the Beast was Led by a Silken Thread Looped through the Wounds in Its Soul
Through the Gateway to the Meadow of Beauty Where, Dancing in Starlight, Faeries
Embraced Beast and Garlanding It and Tattoing it with Velvet Lips and WingTips,
The Light in the Night Revealed and Revelled:
the Beast was not a Beast at all but Only in Self-Given Name
And Lo and Behold, In Loving Its Fear to Melt-down Oblivion, Its Being Grew
Whole and Sound and Song Burst Forth
Such as the World, of Faeries and Human, had Never Heard Before.”

SOUND THERAPY ASPECT OF THE MUSIC

Some musical notes and rhythms feel good in your body and some do not.

We know that the basic, common denominator of all structures in us, the world and the universe, is energy... a form of frequency, just like sound. To explain it a little more closely; certain notes and rhythms vibrate in a frequency that resonates with the natural frequencies of our bodies which create harmony. So in creating a song for the CD "Believe In Joy", I would spend time finding which tones evoked the specific emotion I wanted to experience for that particular song. I discovered while I was doing this that the tones I was choosing coincided with the appropriate chakra centre for that emotion.

For example, when I wrote the song" I Love You" I found myself repeating the note "F" throughout the song. Now "F" activates or resonates with the frequencies of our heart chakra. The note "F" opens us up to empathy, unconditional love, allowing us to experience the expansion of love energy. This song also has a pulse - a heart beat which draws you into it's grounding loving rhythm.

In the song "Floras Party", there is a lot of focus on rhythm. Rhythm is music in its most primal or basic form. It displays an obvoius frequency we can feel, a clear pattern we can identify with right away. I tried to create a real earthy celebration feel to this song and Kelby McNair did a fantastic job on percussion portraying just that.

My last song, "Now I'm Asleep", is written in a dark, rich, eastern mode with a low drone in "A" which resonates with your third eye or vision centre, where you have the power to dream your dreams into reality. It is a meditative song for relaxing and dreaming. Neil Golden adds the rhythmical ancient drum the Tabla and sends us off into a magical dream flight.
